alternator bolt

help!.......someone has to have an old alternator laying around. i need the bolt/screw that the wire bolts to. i broke mine off tightening the wire. i then unscrewed the bolt and hooked the wire to it but the little plastic washer did not fit so i took it off. i think it is causing my main fusible link to blow when i try to hook my battery cables up. i don't know what that washer is for but could it be causing a short? i don't know if it is causing my wire to touch the side of the alt or not. thanks, vic
if you have any input or this bolt please let me know.

Ok, I have some input for you. It may not be pretty.

That washer is an insulator. it keeps the + of the thick alt wire from touching the - ground of the alt housing. No wonder you were burning your fusable link.

So you need a new bolt/stud huh? Ouch. Maybe you could unscrew it (if possible) and go some place where bolts are sold and show the guy behind the counter the alt and the length of bolt/stud you need.
