allways use new hydraulics
Well today in autoshop i was finishing bleeding my brakes. I got them all from a junkyard.... and heres why I regret it.
First I had leaks around the master cylinder, that turned out to be that I just didnt tighten the lines enough. So I go back In my car and start pumping my breakpedal. I didnt have my rear calipers on the rotors at the time, so I ignored the easy pedal movement.
15 minutes later, I see this HUGE puddle of brake fluid below my right rear caliper.
I examined the caliper and and saw that the rubber around the piston had come loose. So I tried to put it back on, and EVERYTHING else on that caliper started to leak. I then tried to disconnect my caliper from the break lines, but I had tightened the thing down so much that I allmost bent my break line.
About 5 minutes later, I notice ANOTHER puddle under the car. This time it was comming from the clutch slave cylinder. It just started leaking everywhere wound the boot.
Everyone told me when putting on hydraulic parts to allways rebuild them or get new ones, and I now I know why. I thought I could save a few bucks with calipers that looked ok to me. HA!
I'm just thankful that this happened before I finished my car, and not on the road. I'll be ordering my rebuild kits tonight. I should really stop acting my age here and listen to people once in a while!
