"Air silencer" from ACV delete [SE specific], yes?
I looked but didn't find anything about deleting the air silencer on my SE. Searched 1st and 2nd gen forums but no dice....
Anyway, I have a bunch of stuff pulled and want to know how loud the engine would be without the "air silencer" for the air control valve in place. It's the relatively hefty black cylinder under the AFM that vents around the passenger side of the radiator.
If it doesn't result in a significant increase in engine noise I'm gonna delete it. It'll need to get pulled when I get the exhaust done and can ditch the ACV all together anyway.
I can tidy up a bit by doing away with 3 hoses, the cylinder and a plastic "air chamber" if this assembly can get removed.
If it's kosher to do then do you guys put any kind of filter or cover where it exits the ACV or just let it open?

It's been so long I don't know what the air silencer looks like.
You're not talking about the check valve?
If you are looking to prune things from your engine compartment, then why don't you just remover the ACV, air-pump and associated items including this air silencer? ACV block off plate will need to be fabbed or purchased. All other openings just have to be capped off. These items will not effect the function of the fuel injection system.
Maybe I'm just not understanding you question.
Pull it off and give it a try and see how loud it is?

I accidentally left mine off and haven't noticed any difference. I'd also like to get a new exhaust and ditch the ACV and air pump.
