air in the hydralic line led to tranny problems?
At first I thought that the spring was bad in the system because the problem only surfaced a few times and a few quick pumps got the feeling back into the clutch pedal. This weekend however I had a lot of problems. I had to limp it home (6 miles) with limited to no clutch capabilities. I had air in the hydralic clutch. I bled the system and now the transmission whines in 1, 2, and 3. This only happens during acceleration and not during deceleration or at a constant speed. Did I mess up the transmission or something else? The sound is similar to a huge turbo spooling up, however I don't have a turbo. Let me know what your thoughts are.
First of all I would say make sure you completly flush the system to be on the safe side and second of all what your describing sounds like a bad throw-out bearing although what your describing seems a little loud but I would take it to a friend who is familiar with transmissions and ask him if it sounds like a throw-out bearing. IF it is, it is not necessarily a big deal: find some one who has a tranny lift, good mechanical skills, and is trustworthy and they should be able to get it out and put a new bearing in, in just a couple of hours if that. The bearing itself only costs like twenty bucks and you shouldn't have to pay your mechanically inclined friend too much to do it either, personally I'd do it for a bottle of Jack Daniels and 25 bucks.
