Air Filter Harness

Hi There.... new to the site, and have searched high and low for my question, but have not found the answer I need.

I've got an 84 gsl-se, and I'd like to replace the stock airbox with a tube and k&n filter...a leftover from my Honda days...i know, i know it's sacreligious, but when you're on limited funds... now the problem is there is an electrical harness attached to the stock box, and my car sputters and will not go more than 10 feet without shutting down if it's not hooked up. Is there a way to get around this problem or is there an adapter available from RB or Mazdatrix?

Thanks for any help you can offer me.

i guessing that the harness ur talking about is the one to the air flow meter. The way i did mine is, remove the air flow meter from the box and make up a custom plate for the air flow meter to bolt on to but make it big so that u can mount the air flow meter on the other side

HKS makes an adapter, I bought a intake set-up for a protege and modified it, this will give you the adapter, filter, and some pipe for you to cut up and run it infront of the radiator if you wish.

P.S. The HKS adapters are universal for all Mazda flaper door style
air flow meters. You can buy a kit for any of the piston engine
Mazda's that will give you what you need.
