Aftermarket settering wheel ?
I just got a Grant steering wheel, and it doesnt go down all the way to the cluster, there is about a 4mm gap. I'm wondering if its not on all the way.
Whats yours like?

Yeah because they turn w/ the steering wheel (you can see them inside), and they are not being crushed, they are just partially inside the hole.
Hm. I Tightened it down hella hard, but it looks like it still needs to go in some more.

Its the adapter, the splined hub that goes over the splined shaft (steering column). Perhaps just tightening it down a bit, day by day, by day, i can get it all the way down. oh, and its THIS grant:
Done. Geoff, you did align the splines when you put the adapter on right? Ive never had any problem with one of those. Maybe remove it and check the shaft splines and adapter. A little clean up with a file and/or sandpaper may be necessary. Just roaching down something is never the right way to get it to work. You will most surely break something. I have the same hub (different wheel) on my DD.

The whole thing moves in and out an inch? Your column shear pins have been sheared. They need to be replaced.

Hm. Well i know its aligned right... cause one way it woulndt go on at all, the other way it would slide down a bit.
What do you reccomend? griding the teeth down a bit or what?

Ok, really dumb question. You sure you got the right hub adapter? What part number did you buy? What do you mean one way it fits, one way it dont? It should fit in many ways cause of teh splines.

well, if nothing else, it looks damned good!! How much of a space are we talking here? I know mine has like half an inch and that's with the stock steering wheel. (might not be quite that much, but...

*smacks himself for everyone else who want's to*
3597 is the right one. I dunno man. I dont have a column surround, so I dont know how the fit would be. IF your saying the adapter doesnt sit flush with the flat end of the column, thats normal AFAIK. Is it engaging the horn contact ok?
