Aftermarket Radiators?

What kind of aftermarket radiators is everyone running? Im looking to replace the struggling stock brass with an aluminum unit. I was looking at the possibility of running a dual pass AFCO or something of the nature, or found a couple for skylines from JVT Racing on eBay that look jam up- welds n such, but have never heard of them, this is all short of just getting a custom one made up...i realize i will have a few mounting issues, but looking for something close enough to the stock size to continue to use the fan shroud, etc...

i picked up a second gen koyo rad. it takes some modification and makes the stock fan and shroud worthless but electric fans are better anyway. looks way hot though and my car never thinks about getting warm now.

Wizard Al radiator, custom built in NY...you have to work the metal bracket ears for a custom fit, but the hose and sensor positioning is all stock, no special radiator hose numbers to remember and the stock heater hose is retained...

The radiator on the day of delivery...

Logo...bad shot, it's etched deeper than it looks...

Nice find Mario! Got a link or number to contact them? I was looking at a griffin scriocco rad but no heater hose on it. And do you know if the tank to core connections are epoxied or furnace brazed?

Ordering one on Tuesday.

They have them for both types, the S1/S2 and the S3, including place for the stock heater hose. What's odd is that I have a Mazdaspeed Motorsports membership and it's $15 more on their site than on awrracing's site

This is the "conversation" I had with radiators.com I said 85 because for some reason they always have trouble finding one for an 83. Read this bottom to top.

Dwight : There are a couple of different radiators, ranging in price between $99.00 and $299.00. We can get you wholesale rates on labor, assuming you went with our installation centers. That's about 1/3 what you'd pay at the dealer. Would you like me to get you an exact labor quote?
You : 52353 Whenever
Dwight : Your price is coming. Looks like that '85 is a really complicated fit. I'll just quote you the most likely 1 of the 3 possible parts -- Or you're welcome to talk to one of our Mazda techs to be 100% sure. What's your zip code and how soon would you need it?
You : just radiator
Dwight : sure. Do you want quotes on just the radiator -- or installation too?
You : both
Dwight : OK. Would you prefer quotes on an OE certified or aftermarket radiator?
You : 1.1
Dwight : Do you know the engine size?
You : 1985 RX-7
Dwight : What model and year Mazda do you have?

I had Howe make me a dual pass aluminum radiator a while back. They didnt charge anything for adding the heater hose nipple or the low coolant sensor fitting specific to the 1st gen.I had it in my hands within 48hrs of ordering, from Michigan to California.....pretty damn quick,300 bucks shipped.
Its been keeping my turbo engine plenty cool for about 6 years now with no problems.

Radiators.com always tries to sell you their installation service to satisfy their contractual obligations to rad shops in your area. They always make things sound complicated, but replacing an RX-7 radiator is pretty simple. You can also pull your rad and walk it into a rad shop and have it rodded and soldered for a few bucks. that works as good as a new one. Saves a few bucks if you have another ride for a day or 2.
