Adding power windows...

Sorry guys, if this has been discussed before, please tell me and point me in the right direct ...I did a search, but may not have used the correct keywords to find what I want..

Anyway, I have a 1985 RX-7 S or GS (dunno which one).....I'm adding power mirrors to it this spring, and figured while I have the door panel off doing that, I may as well add or swap in whatever needs to be done for power windows as well.

So, my question is what will I need from a junkyard to add power windows? I know I'll need the motors and switches for the center console - what else is there to the system? I have a feeling it's quite complex. Anyone willing to tell me everything I need, and how hard is it to add power windows to this car??

Thanks very much !

The window motor and mechinism, door panels and maybe the wiring harnesses. I was under the impression that all of the later FBs had the same wiring, but my 85 GS does not have the door harmess for power windows. Before you start chashing down parts, determine wheather or not your car has the harnesses for the windows, switches, ( mirrors and windows) and the mirror harness in the door and under the dash for the switch.

I really need to install power windows in the widebody because I can't use the door bars for the roll bar. They interfer with the door handles and preformed map pockets at the bottom of the door panels.

If you are concerned with weight, I would keep the manual windows as the power windows will add more weight. Just something to think about if you are concerned with weight
