adding degree marks to main pulley?
adding degree marks to main pulley?
I need/want to add degree marks to my crank pulley in order to set and change my timing to the degree I need it for a given application. I made my own pulley and now I have no way to measure my advance/retard without these marks.
Anyone know how to measure out where to mark your pulley for degree marks?

Hopefully, someone else will chime in here, as I don't know exactly how, but if you don't already know, the pulley circumference is 360 mm, so one degree is exactly 1mm.
Remove the inspection plate behind the header/thermal extractor. rotate the engine from the front pulley with a socket wrench until the flat part of the counterweight goes vertical through the inspection plate and sits parallel to the rear iron. That will be 0deg TDC.
Hint: there is probably some letter/number combo on the flywheel/counterweight, which will be lined up parallel to the flat spot of the counterweight. If you can line this up in the window that will be pretty dern close.
Bonus note: if your engine is ported do NOT rotate it counter clockwise, the ports are likely shaped to accommodate one direction of rotation.
