Add a catalytic converter to the RB system?

I have the RB system for my GSL-SE...the single setup, can't remember the name. Regardless, it stinks....I've had it for a while now but I can't see how ya'll drive these cars without cats...the fumes don't get to your head? I've gotten some mild headaches before, but CO poisoning is not something I want to mess with.

I've been told to make sure the hatch seal is good and there are no leaks in the hatch, but I don't have AC so I'm forced to breathe the fumes at lights even if it is sneaking through the cabin in the rear.

Is there anyway to add a catalytic converter to this system, where the stock straight pipe is? Or would the gases be too cold to be effective, or the cat destroyed because the air pump is removed?

Or should I, gasp, go back to stock??

Right on.

You can get a cat where the presilencer is. RB sells them to the exact length so it's bolt-on between the header and the mid connecting pipe. You will, however, need an air pump.

Have you checked the exhaust system for leaks? I don't get much, if any exhaust fumes in my cabin with the RB dual system. Maybe you have a leak where the header meets the pre-silencer pipe?

the "gray market" cat that mazdatrix sells fits with a RB header (the one that goes to a single collecter) and the stock mazda connecting pipe, then I have a powerpulse muffler at the end. Sounds great and passed smog with no problems.
