Adaptable racks for 1st gen..
Adaptable racks for 1st gen..
Seems like a few people are swapping to the FC front subframe, but I personally do not want to do this.. I've been looking at other options, like buying a CP kit, but I would rather fab my own 'kit'.
So, I've been looking around at some other racks and I think I found a good rear-steer r&p setup.. It's from a 'hachi-go', or, older corolla sr5 basically. Rearsteer rack with FR layout, seems like the wheelbase is similar, though I havent measured it yet. There are also some other options to use with the rack, like custom spacers made by battleversion to get some more angle..
Actually, an ae86 rack would be the same, I suppose, but most are power I hear, and the ae85s are mostly (if not all) non-power with more turns lock to lock, so more steering angle.
Has anyone else looked at this rack for swap potential?

I havent looked at that set up but I have been thinking about other rack options. I surfed a site from japan a few weeks ago that the guy took a US rack for a 2nd gen and turned it upside down and mounted to a couple of small brackets that were welded to the cross member on a first gen. this looked very easy on his site, almost to simple. it seems we should be able to do something like this with a right hand drive rack. I have been looking for this site since and have not been able to find it. anybody else know of something like this? I know there have got to be better options.
