84Stock,

I appreciate the comments, and perhaps I didn't explain my situation completely.

I agree that getting quality tires are important. That's why I went to larger rims, because the last time I had to get discontinued used tires to fit my old 13" rims. And already they feel like a belt is coming loose.

My new rims are wider and have minimal offset, so they should clear the suspension. The previous owner had 205's on them with no problem, so I was basically debating on 205 vs. 215. With stock rims or with a similar offset, I knew the larger size wouldn't fit. So I was just debating my options. I like the wider stance the bigger tires create, but wanted to stay within practical and safe parameters.

The tires I was considering are BF Goodrich Radial T/A or Advantage T/A. Both are reasonably priced and available in my area.

So I was looking for a compromise between performance, safety, and appearance. Hence my questions for the forum.

I mainly wanted to know specifically if anyone had any safety/mechanical issues or performance problems with the larger tires...whether 205 or 215.

Make sense?

Thanks.

Peace out.

Makes sense, I have 215 on the back and 195 on the front. They are Dayton sr rated tires. Handles like **** compared to the bfg touring t/a's with 205 all the way around, too much over steer, however the 195's did make steering effortless. The stance does look good. If I could turn back the hands of time, I'd put BFG traction t/a's all the way around....and use something other than racing beat for springs.

Ok not trying to jack the tread, but rather than start a new one can sombody tell me what profile would work best for a 15" rim? And how do I mesure offset and such. I've got some OZ rims in a 110x4 pattern, and would like to use them. and as far a rubbing goes cant you just get a small spacer?

I was thinking 195/50/r15 for the front, and 205/50/r15 for rear. The tires on them stock are 195/60/r15, and I've had 205's on them before.

Depends on your rim design, offset, tire size, etc.

Use this calculator to compare your rims & tires with the stock ones and it will tell you if your's will fit.

OK, experiment confirms: 205/60-R13 tires on stock waffle rims will fit an SA, with about 1/3" clearance on the spring seat. No issues with any other clearances. Look pretty good, actually.

(I got new tires. Yay. Pix once the wife returns with my camera.)
