about SUSPENSION

i own a 81 and i decided to buy the rear-end and the brakes of a gsl-se, from a friend of mine, in order to get the lsd and the bigger brakes.
could i keep my old struts,inserts and rear shocks?
in conclusion what are the differences between 81 and gsl-se suspension?

yes, the difference is that there is a differnt offset and bolt pattern to the suspension.

se= 4x114.4 at 40mm offset

non se = 4x110 at 25mm offset = only like 3 wheels in the whole world will fit.

you need to change the front spindles also.

I would just go with the GSL rear end, keeps the same 4x110 bolt pattern, and still has the LSD

i do believe you can keep the same shocks and struts. i'm considering doing the same, and my mechanic hasn't mentioned needing new shocks at all. i could be wrong, but i think they're the same.

GSL-SE has vented rear disc brakes and is missing a LSD disk. Mazda must've removed it for the mundane driver. Also has a nicer 4.10 final drive ratio.
Yes you can keep the same shocks and springs.
