Question 9 bolt rearend fits my 1gen?

Okay, riddle me this, rx-perts: A coworker of mine told me that (he has owned three 7s) a 9 bolt rear end will fit in my 1s gen; says it bolts right in, no mods. It's an 85 w/12a-stock tranny as far as i know- just bought it last month-and I'm kinda new to this drivetrain. Im thinking, if he's right, the slightly larger gears will help out my top end, since I cant afford to do the Tbo 13b swap yet...

Is he full of dung, or is it as easy a conversion as he says?

9 bolt rear? GM?

Ford 8.8 and 9" are popular swaps but you need a welder to get it done.

Some of the fasted rotary powerd cars use the 9 bolt rear but it does require some modifications.

Are we talking about the Australian 9 bolt rear end found in 3rd gen Camaros?

Or a Ford 9" rear end?

im guessing a 9" i know the fc and some of the mustangs have the same width rearend.

the dodge a body rearends should be the same as the first gen, the b body should be the same as the second gens.

my coworker made it sound like a nine bolt rear end; ie: GM product or Dodge product. The bolt pattern on them matches up, just like a 6 lug wheel matches the bolts to another 6 lug wheel [(in the us anyway)... I was unaware of any australian 9ers]

they could mean the dodge 8 1/4 rearend. the 8 3/4 rearend from dodge has at least 10 bolts. and is the second strogest dodge has to offer. the big bolt pattern from dodge has the same 5 lug bolt pattern that is used in the second and 3rd gens
