85 SE problems

Went out to the 85 SE I am selling for Blake's Mom and I was showing it to a possible buyer. I stuck key into the switch and started right up. All the Temp alarms went off and then I noticed all of the gauges weren't working. Either were the Blinkers. The lights and hazards were and everything else was.

Anybody ever had this happen to their 1st gen? Anybody have any idea what it could be?

Let me know if you have any ideas. Car runs great, all fluids are good also. No reasons for the Alarms to be sounding unless some circuit is messed up.

Did you short/blow a fuse?

Wait, turn signals didnt work but hazards did?

And just to double check tach and speedo also did not work?

SE running rich and misses!

Hey everybody. I was showing Blake's 85 SE to Jarrod Saturday, he was thinking about purchasing the car. After he left I moved the car back into the shop and it started to run very rich and miss very badly.

I do not know much about Fuel injection cars so I am asking for some help. I did check the obvious this such as ignition, coils, plugs and such. Car runs pretty good under load with throttle, once you get to a cruise it starts to buck violently.

Guessing it has something about not getting enough air into the fuel. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks,

Russell

Hey Russ,

Based on the info that you gave, I would check to make sure the flapper in the Air Flow Meter isn't hanging up. This "hanging up" is less or more noticeable depending on throttle position.

I forgot to mention this: Even if the flapper in the AFM seems like it is free, it still may not be opening properly. To make sure, check the electrical connections on the AFM. Sometimes they corrode and causes it to not operate properly.

85 SE 20amp engine fuse?

OK, I tested the AFM/MAF and it tested it fine. Car was running bad from previous post. Hooked it back up and there was no ignition. Check the 20amp engine fuse and noticed it was bad. Changed it out and it popped again.. Any body have any ideas?

Does anybody have any idea?

Need to get this car running so I can get it sold and gone! Tried 2 20amp fuses and both blew. All the engine electronics now does not work without the fuse. Has to be something.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
