85 rx5 (first Gen) headlight and turnsignals don't work

I have an 85 Rx7. The headlight and turn signal suddenly stopped working. when I flip the switch to open up the headlamp, it takes several minutes before the headlamps open up. But the Headlights an turn signal don't work. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Might want to double check your ground - on the driver's side strut tower.

The fusible links can cause this type of problem. The small brown fusible link box is located on the left shock tower, under the hood. The terminals on the links and the box they plug into can become too corroded to pass the proper current. I would clean all the terminals including the main connection from the battery to the link box. Use sandpaper or a pocket knife to scrape off the corrosion.

If this doesn't work you may need to clean the terminals inside the combination switch. I have pictures of disassembly here. http://intertron.com/ron/combo.html
It is much easier to spray contact cleaner into the switch and turn the switches on and off several times. Usually this is enough to clean off the contacts.
