85 Rear Noise and extra parts

ok so i took my rx-7 for its 1st drive about a month ago, and somthing popped in the *** end of the car, then the car reacted as if it were a blown tire, felt wobblyand made a banging noise as i came to a stop fromthe passenger rear area.

After disassembly everything looks fine.. the diferential showsno signs of breakage... there is no metal in the bottom of the houseing...the bearingsare all still intact.

However i did go ahead and cut the old bearings off to replace with new ones, and there is an extra "spacer" that does not appear on ANY diagram or service manual instructions... so i removed this "spacer from the mix and just put on the dust cover for thedrum, and then the bearing, and then the cap. removing the spacer so that it would match the diagrams i see online and in the FSM.

so spacer?
and what broke? if it wasnt my bearings or diff?

also, i took my axels to a mechanic, with the bearings already cut off, and the new ones ready to be pressed on... and he wanted $180 to press them on... so naturaly i gave him the finger and got back in my jeep.

ok after 2 more hours of research i found a PDF labeled "80 rx7 workshop manual" that does show these spacers... so im boned... gotta cut the new bearings off, and buy new spacers and new bearings and new retainers... again...

thanks for the proactive support you useless forum!!!

RANT: i get more support on my non-existant 40 yr old boat than i do on a 20 yr old car... kinda backwards but ohh well.
