Just got my first car--- an '85 GSL--- good shape mechanically, good body, but seats totally shot--- large foam chunks flapping in the breeze, with shredded vinyl, etc. Would appreciate suggestions to rehab/replace both seats, keeping in mind my High School poverty trip, and the fact I'd rather put the bread under the hood.....

if that is the case, try duct tape and seat covers.
