85 gsl-se ?

hey all i have been looking for a 7 for along time now and i found a 85 gsl-se back in november and left a note asking if it was for sale and the guy final found it and phone me. So i went to look at it and the car it in pretty good shape little bit of surface rust (i am a bodyman so i can fix that) the inside it good the seat are in great shape and the so is the door panels and carpet. but it was getting dark and i could look behind the bins yet but will this week. also i am going to check the compression myself(have the tool) hopeful soon causer the car is getting a new alternator and i didnt get to start it up. its also got a new exhaust. the guys just knows little about the car but change the oil often in it. He want 2500cdn for it and its got 253,xxxkms on it what do you think ? If you can tell things to watch out for and the ups and downs of the car that would be great. Thx james

with repairable rust and good interior/drivetrain, that's a fair price for a Canadian market SE

Make sure you change all fluids, flush the injectors, and watch for sticking aux ports

You'll have a better idea on the value once you get it out for a drive. Then you can tune into things like tranny noises, clutch, does it make good power through the band, does everything work, ie; bells/whistles, check the coolant and have a good look at the oil after you have driven it (for anti-freeze), watch the temp and oil gauges, listen for any howling from bearings/diff, any steering slop?- oh yea, does the radio work
Good luck with it - price seems to be in the ball park for an average SE.
Note - if you're not familar with the cars, someone in the Peg would probably help you out before you buy - try posting this on the Canadian board.
