Is the guy with the WRX still in highschool? If so, that expains why the engine is screwed up. That idiot probably doesn't know how much the stock motor can handle.

Well, with comments like that, you need to find somebody with a RX-7 that you can borrow that will absolutely embarass this jerk. I am sure that Illinois has at leasst a few folks with 300+ hp FBs that would like to give this guy a lesson for you.

You will need somebody with a turbo or 3 rotor (unlikely). He's got a turbo, so it is only fair.

if the wrx's suspension is stock then they really arent that great on track handling. the cars are made for rally so they lean alot. yes the awd gives them great launch speed, mainly in an auto which are bulletproff. all the autocrosses i've seen here have proven that just because it's a damn wrx doesnt mean jack. i would say 40% of the damn people at the autoX's had subaru's and were getting owned by crx's, other hondas, 240's, and the like. the people that were owning were the rwd guys with old 280z's and a nice rx8 was out there once owning up as well but seriously, wrx's are over rated. but not on power, in a straight line it will win.

We just bought a WRX the other day. Already have upgraded the turbo and FMIC. Spraying an intercooler kit on it also. Using theE-01 to manage the boost. We have not upgraded the fuel system yet, so we are not going past 1 bar. It has Tein HA coilovers.

My GSL-SE is streetported, with N2O. I have a very built suspension, and basically nothing is stock.

With only a 30 shot, here is what I've noticed.
I can beat the WRX, just barely, on 1/4 mile.
On top end runs, the WRX just pulls away. It's gearing lets it run much better on the highway.
On cornering, it's not really fair, since neither car is stock, but I absolutely kill it. I think stock GSL-SE suspension against stock WRX suspension, the WRX would handle better than the GSL-SE. Seems the IRS gives it a big advantage as well as AWD.

First of all I have driven a 2 seperate wrx's, and I love the power, but in the corners with stock suspension, the Wrx understeers like a pig, especially when you put a bunch of power down.
My car in particular, with the rubber I have on there will out run a mildly moded Wrx on any tight twistys or our local auto-x courses. BUT if there is any room for the WRX to get straight and lay power down there is no way I could hang on.

But hey, if he wants to race me, he can wait till march when I get my new YZF-R1.. ehehehhe wanna play??

My sister owns a wrx which I try to drive as often as I can..It's a great car, but stock its not THAT fast,94mph traps prolly..The car understeers but I think it has great grip concidering what tires come on the car,so I think about even with an SE for corners..You make 200hp in the SE and you will win as long as the WRX has less then 260 or so..With BOV (which does jack for HP on this car) and exhaust,12hp or so if mandrel bent 3 inch,And mabye 16psi boost it sould be making about 250-260 or so..The GSL-SE aint gonna be too fast unless you do porting or throw a turbo motor in there..The AWD sure helps alot in drag racing though,I have a galant VR4 that does 0-60 in under 4 seconds on 225/40/18 dunlop w-10's on the street..

WRX STi is heavy @ 3260lbs but 300hp and 300torque does help it shuffle around corners.

They CAN be made to handle VERY well. Gary Sheehan won the 2001 http://www.ustcc.com/ road racing championship, took 2nd in 2002 and is currently 2nd in 2003.

That AWD lets it get on the throttle early in corner exit and we know how 1st gen rx7's have an oversteer problem which makes up get on the gas late on corner exit. I've seen it in action and his WRX really scoots. I'd put $ on the WRX, sorry.

yeah BOVs are not a HP item for any engine, unless boostspikes are involved, then it gets ugly I think its funny, most people compare fast to the fastest thing they have riden in. If ya have a vehicle that does tens, WRX arn't exactly "fast" anymore. However if your used to moms Probe then ya WRXs are much more peppy. I would have loved to have a WRX in high school, and it probably would have been the fastest thing in the lot, except for maybe Jim Bobs Iroc (WVa). The point is DON"T let this guy talk trash on the 7. I know of plenty of FBs that would eat his WRX and VETTES for brunch. If you had as much money in your 7 as he spent on his new WRX, you could win EASILY!!!

So get to work

Ok..over the weekend the engine was streetported and polishedSo i know thats gonna help..it should get dynoed to see what will be worked with. The guy in the WRX said hes getting his stuff fixed so by next weekend he said he MIGHT be able to race. But ya, i want this guy beaten because of him disrespecting RX-7's. Thats all i want is the satisfaction of knowing he got beaten. I told him to wait till i get my second gen...and after a couple performance parts and race then (because according to him he said it doesn't matter which older model 7 it is..he'll own either way), but he said no..he HAS to race this 1 gen. I think its cuz he heard the plans i got for the sec. gen. and got scared hehe.

HAHAHAHAH!!!! I love it. It is very amusing to me how people only recognize FDs as being the fast Rx7s. Well after all it is the car Vin Deisel drove so they would have to be fast HAHAHAHAHA!!! NA your not going to beat him, plain and simple. I would try to explain to him that it is really a matter of money not of fundamentals. What do new WRX's cost? OK, say they were 10k(which I know their more). Like I said before I would take the 10k to put in my FB over a WRX any day, because YOU WOULD WIN,,,NO PROBLEM. With 10k you could build a 400hp FB(with the right shop and skills). So ya see its not that WRXs are "faster" then Rx7s. It is who has the most MONEY!!! I saw a dodge omni spank a Viper once......NO ****!!!
