I got an 85 gls 12A. This is my first car and well i'm new to working on cars as well. When i bought it, it ran like crap, and shortly stopped running after. I tried pouring some gas straight into the carb to see if it would start up and it did. Then died after idleing and running up all the gas we put in the carb.
Does anyone know what might be the problem here?
Also I am wanting to put new headers and an exhaust on it but not sure where to look for some prices and parts.

 

begin with checking fuel filter, it might be clogged...for headers/exhaust people usually recommend racing beat, might wanna check their prices, i know they're high, but they're great quality, a more low end that i've heard people using a lot is pace setter . . .

See if the fuel pump is working, on that year it will only run when the engine is cranking. Easiest way is to remove the fuel line from the carb (one closest to firewall) and put the end in a bottle, then crank the engine over and see if it fills the bottle. Post back results and we can go from there...
