85 axle bearing Pn# & sizes?
1985 GSL-SE, 13b, 5spd, all stock survivor, rear axle disk brake. The axle bearings are bad and mega noisey. (Car is a flood rescue) The measured on axle bearing dimensions are; (NTN Pn# 62078x3c4 and 6207lu)
ID=35mm
OD=72mm
W=17mm
The Timken Pn# for the 84-85 GSL-SE in the books is 511017.
However the sizes for this bearing are
ID=35
OD=72
W=35mm
The correct 17mm width Timken appears to be Pn#514004 (by Timken Bearing data sheet)
Anyone know what is correct???
There is a brand on EBAY called "Centric" with the correct width of 17mm but have never heard of the brand. Does anyone have experience with them? good/bad?

I'm attaching a couple pics showing the width on axle is not 35mm. The depth of pocket for bearing in axle appears correct. Are the books everywhere wrong on Pn#511017?

From outboard to inboard is a spacer, the bearing, then the spacer the oil seal rides on. It is possible that the one spec is including the width of the oil seal spacer as some sets come with them as well. The outer spacer is reusable but the inner is typically damaged during removal. I recently replaced mine with the Centric ones and they are good so far. Centric has two part numbers, one with and one without the oil seal spacer. I ordered through rockauto.com and had zero problems.

we were pitted next to the Centric ceo at the 2009 25 hours of thnderhill, he shook our hands because we were using his rotors. we beat his prototype by ~60 laps, in a honda.
neither timkin or centric are OE parts, and non OE listings have a tendency to be incorrect. the Mazda number is 8595-26-151-MV, it says with collar. the OE bearing would have been an NSK or a Koyo.

Right now I think I'm going to try the Centric Bearings and will cross my fingers.
Maybe this research I did can help others avoid getting a wrong part in the future.
Just got off the phone with a Timken tech rep after 30 min on hold. The pn# 511017 IS 35mm wide. He said this does NOT include any spacers or retainer ring widths and does NOT include the inner ring in package. That must be ordered separately from the bearing. This # is BEARING ONLY.
This is a big prob for the unsuspecting who purchase at chain stores or from an application book or Ebay.
Timken said this bearing was listed in their system for the 84-85 gsl-se 1.3 13b but it is the wrong width (35mm not OEM 17mm). They said they don't mfg the bearing, but buy it and repackage. Wouldn't say who the mfg is...
They said the "Cataloging Dept" would have to correct the error but gave NO INDICATION of if he was even going to notify them and I could not get him to get a notice back to me if the issue is ever actually corrected.
Said the OEM NTN #62078x3c4 crosses to Timken #207FF (bearing only, no inner ring and is the LIGHT TYPE 200 series bearing?! wtfrick?)
I didn't expect this crap from a quality name like Timken.
Any input on this is welcome!
