84SE New Power Window rack... adjustments

Installed new Power Window (PW) racks on both driver's and passenger's side and the driver's side went very well. Marked the mounting holes for the rack before removing the old one, and then installed the new rack to match the bolt alignment marks. Also replaced the glass 'welt seal' that the glass seats into when in the full up position.

After I finished the driver's side, testing the window glass, it moved smoothly up and down, albeit a bit slowly due to the new welt seal gripping it a bit tigher than my 20 year old ones.

Go to do the passenger side rack and welt seal tonight, and performed the exact same sequence for installation. Get done and test, and the glass is tilting toward the front when you raise the glass, and doesn't seem to want to go ALL the way up - about 1-2mm of gap between glass and top welt seal.

Tried adjusting the the scissor attachment points, and the front glass track, but can't seem to find a combination that allows the glass to raise evenly and fully into the top welt seal.

Any suggestions? Anybody done this and found out how to get it to work as designed? Seated the glass by hand to get a good seal and it's very quiet inside now - just am cautious about raising/lowering the glass if I have to hand-adjust it to get it to seat again. TIA,

well usually the reason they don't go all the way up is that the front window channel is too far forward. Just loosen the two front bolt and try pushing is back as far as you can and try it after. That should fix your problem. That has fixed similar problems I have had with my 7 and also Protege as well.

Good luck

I would try loosing ALL of the possible adjustments, put the window all of the way up, tighten ALL of the adjustment bolts back and then see if the window goes down all of the way without tilting.

Sorry you are having problems.

I had the same problem with my passenger side........it took 3 or 4 tries..........
Just had to keep adjusting.........over time the tight seal
will adjust.........The worst is putting it all back........getting out on the road and bam...........its off track.......

On my driver side I had to replace the motor........with all the new rubber it just could not push it up.......

Keep adjusting.......you will find the right combo.....
