'84 SE ignition/electric wiring help?

so i'm working on hooking up the driver's side wiring harness. i have questions on a couple of items. it used to have power steering and ac. it doesn't anymore.

http://cptgloval.shackspace.com/cars.../greenwire.jpg -- not sure where this goes.

http://cptgloval.shackspace.com/cars/wiring/split.jpg -- what is the loop on the left and the camera battery-sized thing on the right?

thanks for any help.

The green thing went to the "hot Start Assist" motor. If you don't have one, you don't need to worry about it. I removed mine because it was broken and have not had any problems. You just need to crack the throttle a bit when it starts when its hot. No more than I usualy do, so it's all cool.

On the second picture, the little loop attaches to the fusible link box from the positive cable IIRC. The little battery-shaped thingy I usually see on top of the engine. I *think* I remember someone saying something about it being there to clean up the signal to the tach, but mine's gone and again I've never noticed the difference.

Definitely hook that positive thing back to the fusibles if I'm right on that one. Your car will have one hell of a time running without it.

as far as i can tell, that loop thing doesn't reach the fusible links from where the cable ends up around the dizzy and alt (that big plug is for one of the ignitors iirc).

The middle plugs are for the ignitors. The battery looking thing is the condensor. It goes on the side of the distributor. The large wire on the left appears to be the alt output wire. On the GSL-SE, the alt output connects to a block on the RE-EGI plenum. From there, that wire (also bolted to the block), eventually goes to the fusible links and battery. The wire should be white with a red stripe.

That one bolts to the top of the engine (on an inspection plate I believe). It eventually connects to the oil pressure gauge. I am not sure of its function, really. The wire is broken on mine and the oil pressure gauge works just fine.

Nope. Just the one. The power is shared to the two coils (BY wire). The condensor connects to the coil +.

Ah, so I was *partly* right.

I was thinking of the condensor on top of the engine, the one that comes out "near the master cyl" as you said.

I think that GSL-SE addict had it spot-on about pic #2. I just wasn't sure where in the engine bay it was going.

I'm absolutely sure about the hot start though
