84 GSLSE running Problems!!!

Ok, the run down.
I have recently purchased a 84 GSL-SE and everything under the engine bay looked pretty much in stock form. But there was oil and Power steering fluid everywhere! So my next step was to clean all this up.
So here is all I have done to the car.
-removed air pump and all smog from LIM and blocked off with Mazdatrix block off plate
-Removed fan clutch and replaced with a SPAL electric fan
-Took entire intake system off and cleaned throttle body in diesel fuel, cleaned out the LIM and runners with carb cleaner.
-removed the 6 port actuators/and arms seeings there was no sleeves in the 6th ports (blocked off holes with silicone gasket maker and a dime)
-Flushed cooling system with water and then added Mazda coolant
-replaced all injector rubbers
-fixed oil cooler hangers
-replaced oil cooler lines with Racingbeat SS braided
-replaced old rubber fuel lines
-replaced all vacuum hoses with new rubber from Adavance...will go silicone at another time...all other ports not being used have vacuum plugs

Ok..... the reason for me explain all of this to give a overview of what I have done under the hood. Now, I have also made a post on a cut wire (https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/84-gsl-se-coil-igniter-wiring-s-646487/)
which I have figured where it was cut, rejoined the two wires, and replaced the Main relay as 74Rx4 had stated.
I then reset the timing (5 different times)
Adjusted Throttle posisiton sensor

And now when your driving the car, she pulls hard but when you let off the gas and decelerate it pops and backfires. Had a friend behind me telling me it puffs flames everytime it pops. I can not for the life of me figure out how to get this to stop or what might be causing it not to burn all the fuel. Any suggestions and/or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

P.S. sorry for the long post.

cheerz,
vern

Vern, I would check the operation of the dashpot and make sure it is in proper adjustment per the FSM.

Check the dashpot and re-adjust both leading and trailing timing.

After aligning the front pully to the leading mark and pulling the dizzy and resetting it. I put a timing light on it and the timing was right around 5ºATDC
