'84 gsle-se: please help
Hey guys,
I'm fixing up my 1984 gsl-se and I am trying to find a part but I do not know what it is. It is a strap of some sort that attaches to the bolt on the left side of the first picture. I have looked for what it is but can never see where the strap goes. Right now I am thinking that it might be a grounding strap but I am not sure. Everything that I have seen has shown the strap going to the left. Does anyone know what this strap is?

Thank you for your input Trochoid, however, as I said in my first post, I have already looked for this part. I actually have a physical copy of the 1984 factory service manual but there are no detailed drawings or descriptions to give me any more clues about the part. If you know of a specific page number that is helpful, please tell me because I could not find it.

The big black wire you have connected to the alternator goes there. You are missing a short wire that goes from that terminal to the terminal on the alternator where you have the black wire connected.
Here's a picture of mine. Ignore the extra black and white wires plugged into the plug and wrapped with electrical tape to the wire on the alternator. That is a non-stock extension to plug in my FC alternator. I don't know of any reason you need the extra wire going from that terminal to the alternator. I think the way you have it hooked up is fine.

Thanks 74. I am just trying to do some trouble shooting on the BAC and TPS and wanted to ensure that the car was back to 100% stock before I started making adjustments.
The idle drops when A/C is kicked on which as we all know is common when a BAC is not operating correctly. I have a new hose on order for the BAC. More annoying than a problem.
Thanks again.
