84 GSL rear

Yes sir just got a 84 GSL and had it for 3 days and broke the rear all ready. After hearing a thumping noise as I drove it I drained the rear fluid to find a piece of rear in the drain pan. I have another rear that is out of another RX-7 that I would like to put in. My question is can I just bolt it back in, or do I have to shim it or aligin it. I have never had to do anything with a rear so Im looking for any help that I can get i.e. how to pull the axils out or do I need to..... Thanks

Interesting! What year is the rear from? Normally though it should bolt right up!

simply remove the brake calipers, unbolt and pull axles, and remove the complete pumpkin and replace with the new one.. no shimming required if you swap out the complete 3rd member... make sure the parts your swapping out are interchangable, as there is different axle sizes....78 to early 83 interchangeable, and late 83 to 85 are interchangable...

try using a synthetic gear oil to increase the life of your rear end also.. good luck
