Yeah, I was looking at Mantis' gauge faces... pretty nice...
Allegedly, you can snake it out, but I've tried and couldn't do it. Is there a trick here, maybe?

Reach underneath the dash and disconnect the speedo.

I actually have a better idea. Disconnect the speedo wire at the tranny, then give the line some slack. then you should be able to take it out (and put in) easier.

I just remove mine from my 84 GSL. Removing the speedo cable was the hardest part. I am a big guy 6'1"
and 240. Outside of my wife I don't fit in tight places all that well.

Back to the topic, yeah do what Directfreak says.
Disconnect at the tranny, it will give the slack that you need. Becareful not to break the plastic clip or your next thread will be, " Please Help ! Anyone have a speedo cable for a 84GSL ! ! ." Mazdatrix and Racing Beat and even the dealer discontinued them.
I belive that www.victoriabritish.com has them for $29.95.

The two screws at the top of the plastic that holds the cluster in then a couple more for the actual cluster.

1. Remove the steering wheel first. Give ur self room to work so you wont have a hard time getting levarage then break something.

2. Spray the 2 screws on the plastic that holds the cluster with PB Blaster unless they are not rusted and unscrew very easily. DONT STRIP IT ! ! ! ! Just spray it better safe that sorry.

3. Forgot how many screws there are but there may be a couple to remove the actual cluster.

4. AFTER ALL SCREWS WERE OUT, I had to use a little elbow grease to remove the actual cluster out of the dash. I had to kinda manipilate its way out of there using speaker wire to pull it out and at the same time push the dash to make a bigger opening.

You'll see what im talking about when you get here. JUST BE PATIENT NOT TO BREAK ANYTHING !

Hope this helps you out. BTW, what are you working on?

Good Luck

Ryan
