When you get the header system, you can delete the air pump. :-)

How much is lost with having it hooked up, and how much can you honestly expect to gain with a header and no cat? They claim up to 22% but is that realistic?

You are not losing anything or gaining anything by having the air pump hooked up or disconnected. It is just a vital function to have when you are still running the catalytic converter. It provides air into the cat, enabling it to burn off the HC's. Without it hooked up with a cat, it will destroy the cat from all of the unburned fuel.

As far as the 22% claim. I am assuming you are refeering to the RB system? It is a very valid claim and is what I call, "Seat of the pants" claim. You will feel the difference when you install it.

Ya the most notable thing about the RB is you will notice how much more your engine comes alive in the higer revs, it will rev up with almost no hesitation.
