83 rx7 no wiper operation and tranny shimmy

i have a 1983 rx7 limited edition and the winsheild wipers don't work. the motor itself is ok b/c i tested it and the connectors. is there a common problem that i could look for that might narrow my search? where could i find a wiring diagram for it.

it doesn't have a rear wiper on it and i was wondering if that was something that was an option to have or not?

it has a 5 speed tranny in it. with it in neutral and the clutch pedal up the tranny shimmy's a little and increases when you bring the engine up to higher rpm's. is that normal of was the clutch installed wrong? the kid that had it before me put a stage 2 clutch in it. i also noticed that it like to have higher rpm's to take off smooth in first but doesn't mind much in other gears. is that something normal or does that have something to do with the clutch? any help

Be sure to check the switch for the wipers as well. If that's OK, look in either the Haynes manual or the FSMs for the wiring diagrams. The rear wiper was an option equipped on GSL models.

A little vibration with RPMs is normal. These engines aren't perfectly balanced from the factory - they're only meant to reach 7k, 8k tops. This vibration can be accentuated if someone put in an aftermarket flywheel. Unless they added it during an engine rebuild, it's doubtful that the counterweight they used is matched to the rotors, even if the counterweight is from the same year (S2s, for instance, had at least 3 different weight ranges for the rotors IIRC). This imbalance is generally considered acceptable for a non-ported motor.

I've wondered about the vibration too. At what rpm does the vibration become noticable? I have an aftermarket flywheel and this past winter I felt a vibration come on hard at about 5500rpm. Though on warmer days I haven't felt it.

Takeofff: low torque engine. It takes a bit of slippage to take off

it's noticeable a little bit just at idle and gets worse as the rps's climb. around 3 grand it's really noticeable. i think i'm going to take the tranny out and check it all out and redo the clutch.

Check your timing first before you go through all that work, you never know. Unless the pressure plate is broken (!) there's not much one can do on the install to cause an imbalance. If you do pull it all apart, take the flywheel (assuming it's aftermarket) to a machine shop to make sure it's balanced.

The wiper linkage may be frozen. Remove the wipers and spray a little PB Blaster where the shaft comes through the bushing near the cowl. The left side wiper seems to be the problem most of the time.

Check/replace the transmission mount. It is the cheapest, easiest part to replace that is a common cause of vibration.

i took the wiper motor completely out of the car and used a jump box to make sure that it worked and it does. i'm leaning towards electrical/switch.
