'83 rear end and front susp into '79
'83 rear end and front susp into '79
I've searched and I'm confused. I plan to swap the LSD rear from a '83 as well as the front strut assembly into my '79. The brake lines have me confused. I don't know what can stay and what can go.
I have the master cylinder and proportioning valve from the '83. I know I need the flex line that goes from the rear hard line to the splitter on the rear end. Will I need to replace the hard line too, or are the thread pitches the same there between the SA and the FB?
I have the flex lines from the front brakes, but do I need to replace the hard lines that run to them? Will the hard lines that go to the SA master cylinder work or do I need to replace those as well when I replace the SA m/c with the FB m/c?
I've seen people talk about adapters to go between the coarse pitch on the SA lines to the fine pitch on the FB lines. Where can I get them and what are the sizes?

if your not using adapters you need to replace all lines, prop valver, and master cyl. with fb counterparts.
the gsl master cyl and prop valve will distribute pressure differently for your new rear disc.

bro,
You use brake lines (hard and soft lines), brake proportioning valve and master cylinder from the donor. YOU DONT USE THE 83's BRAKE BOOSTER as it larger than the SA. Also, the SA's front brake line is shorter than FB; therefore, it is secured in the wheel wheel by a "C" clip, whereas the FB has a brakeline bracket welded into the wheel well.
Bring it down to LA and I will only charge you less than $100 for the complete swap. Actaully, that $100 is to pay for our korean bbq meat and heine's.

if youre going to go through that you should at least use the larger bearing 84-85 spindels and rotors. also, get an '80 brake booster. its one inch larger than the '79 and it still fits.
