83 limited GSL bad tranny

I have an 83 limited edition GSL, bad tranny. Engine replaced at 130K, now 186K. Champaigne greenish. Want to sell. It has 300 dollars in fine. Located in San Francisco. Should I call a mobile mechanic to have it repaired ? Thanks.

Theres no such thing as a limited edition GSL. They were all based on the GS trim, so no rear disc or LSD.

I was thinking of donating to charity to get tax deduction. But I figure I should sell and get the money to pay DMV fines. Right now, it's not moving, even thought the engine is very strong. The mobile mechanic said he will charge 200 bucks to fix the transmission. I don't know how to work it. Maybe you guys can advice me what to do on this one.

Jeez, if a mechanic can GUARANTEE a fix for 200 that's a good deal. I just scrounged up a good trans for my 83 for $250 and it cost me another $500 to have it swapped and re-clutched.

How's the car otherwise? Interior? Body? Sightlines? Working gear, like antenna, headlights, windows, rear hatch, etc?

The car is not in perfect shape. But it can be dressed up. Antenna is not automatic, and broken. Rear hatch look fine, won't hold up, only by hands. Body is cool. Paint not like new, so. Great stereo. It's fun to drive. But I have two Audi's, so this have to go.

If you look at the sales/wanted section, you might see somebody's Champaign 1st gen. Mine looks like that.
