yep, I have an '83 limited edition...

I have 2 RX7s, both happen to be 83s, one is a GS, and one is the limited... the differences I can remember are that the limited has cruise control, bigger rims 14" alloys as appose to 13", and a sunroof, among others I am sure.
I know there are some other people on the forum that have the limited edition model, who have a picture, mine was not in stock form when I bought it as rims were changed sadly, I don't have a good pic as mine is tore apart now, awaiting a ported motor and other mods...

To be honest... I don't know what all the GSL had... I think the GSL did come with a limited slip rear, although it wasn't disk brakes, still drum. I know for a fact on my limited edition that when I did burn outs both wheels would go, no one tire fires. oh yeah limited edition had upgraded radio, with the joy-stick to control fades. GSL-SE had the limited slip posi with disk brakes.

The 1983 Limited edition was a special GS packaged car. 14" BBS mesh style 110x13 wheels, Champane exterior paint job, with maroon interior. Sunroof was a option on the GS models.

Thats it, No rear disc brakes or limit slip rear axle.

Wheels would fetch you $250-300 in good condition.

like was already said, its a GS with a sunroof, chateau silver paint, 14x6" BBS style wheels (useing the 4x110mm pattern) cruise control, better stereo (still a pos) and a nasty maroon interior. Basically its just a silver GS with cool wheels. They made like 5000 of them. Mine was rusted to hell when I got it so I tore it apart for parts. I really like teh color, I'm actually considering painting my GS that color. Anyway, if its in good shape get it, if not, look for another FB.

I have an 85 GSL-SE and it has 14 (maybe 15??) inch alloys, 13b enjine, sunroof, cruise control, and discs on all 4 wheels. Fuel injected too but I don't think that's anything real special. wooohooo

Gotta love those enjines. And on topic, the le rims look a TON better than stock. I'm buying a set from my friend. Like everyone said, they're 14", as opposed to the 13" ones on the other first gens.

They're commonly referred to as "snowflake" wheels.
I've got 7 of 'em, I'm going to restore the best 4 and use 'em on either my '80 or my '74 RX4, haven't decided yet. The best thing about 'em is being able to run a 195/60/14 tire and maintaining the speedometer calibration. Also, the choice in 14" tires is much better.
I find 50 series tires to be too hard for comfortable daily driving, but 60 series are a good compromise between performance and drivability. JMO.

So are you saying you can move from the sotkc 13s to the le 14s and keep the speedo calibrated correctly?

Get some Nitto drag radials like I did, they look great and are very very very sticky.

The diameter of the stock 13" tire/wheel setup is vitually identical to that of a 195/60/14 tire on a 14" wheel, so the speedometer/odometer readings are not affected in any appreciable way.

Well on the drum brake thing for the GSL's. I have an '84 GSL, and I had an '85 GSL and they both have disc breaks and LSD. As far as the LE is concerned I have only seen a '79 (I think) and it was completly totaled about three weeks later. Some kid bought it and decided to see if it could do front flips (end over end). The next time I saw it the local Mazda dealer was stiping the carcas for any viable parts

The '79 LE came with a 13" wheel that is similar in appearance to the "waffle wheels" that came stock on the SA models. The '79 LE wheels are the rarest stock Mazda wheels in the US, if I remember correctly. I sold a set on eBay a few months ago. The '79 LE also had a unique LED clock, and a 120mph speedo.
