OR 83 GSl needs assistance

Hey everyone first time rotary owner and I need some help from someone who knows what they're talking about.

A couple weeks ago I bought an 83 GLS. I did a basic tune up on it spark plugs, wires, cap, oil all that. about a week later i rebuilt the carb. I finally got it to the point where it would start up and idle nice every time i start it, i took it for a couple of laps around the neighborhood and then went on a lil cruise and it was doing great! later that day i tried pushing my luck and took it on I5 I wanted to see if i would have any problems so i went up a couple exits, before my exit it started cutting out and sputtering really bad so i shut it off waited a few seconds and started it back up it ran perfect all the way home. At first i thought it was doing it only at 55-75 mph but this morning i was driving it going about 35 and it did it again sept this time it was a lot worse and it hasn't stopped sence. It seems to me like its getting to much fuel and overloading. Your help will be greatly appriciated.

During your tune up did you change your fuel filter? That is often overlooked and usually causes driveability problems like yours.

Oh, and its GSL, not GLS.

Have you done a flow test of the fuel delivery? Check the flow at the carb...

Okay. Another possibility would be clogged jets. They might flow enough fuel for putting around, but once you try to drive at higher speeds they won't let enough fuel through to keep the car going.

Here's how you can verify this: Get back out on the highway, and when it starts dying again put the clutch in and coast for about 20 or 30 seconds, then try it again. If it still behaves the same way, then the jets are most likely clogged. But if you end up getting good power for a short time after doing this, then it would point to a clogged line or weak fuel pump (coasting allows the fuel pump to fill the float bowls with fuel again).

OR 83 GSL fuel problems

Hey yall I dropped my gas tank and cleaned it out, i figured that would have stopped the sputtering and stuff but no it didn't. i got a new fuel filter one of those glass ones that you can take apart and clean first five seconds on and it was clogged so i cleaned it put it back on and the fuel coming from my tank is clean but there must be a clog or something in the carb or fuel lines. I just rebuilt my carb so im really not looking forward to taking it off again. any ideas besides replacing the fuel lines or taking my carb off?
