83, got lotsa questions
Well i found a nice 83 RX-7. The cars clutch was going bad in 1995so the guy parkeds it for winter, come summer it was seized, so there it sat up to now. I looked over the car, it has 140,xxx miles on it. The interrior is 99% perfect, only problem is small tear in door. Exterior is 90% perfect, if you dont count the rims. Theres a dent on the header panel wich can be popped out, and one of the side triangle windows is busted. The car comes iwth a bra, rear louvers, and cover. The guy wants $500 for it and i am thinking about getting it. My only question is, if i cant get the engine to run, is there any possibility that the entire body(fenders, doors, roof, rear fenders. all taht typa stuff could be transfered to my 84 -se? I would like to keep my power windows and mirrors and watnot, so i dont kno if its possible, but my thinking is that 500 dollars and some elbow grease is alot cheaper than a new paintjob on my rex. Plus if i can get it to run theres another RX7 for me. Anyone think its a good deal? Got the good ol 12a and everythign seems to be in good condition under the hood, and the exterior has NO RUST, except for where the header panel is bent and the paint cracked. Anyone got any ideas?

Im pretty sure thats what it is, but how do u check for it? After sittin for so many years im pretty sure its just carbon locked, cause it ran perfect when he parked it. Anyone have any iedeas?

If she's seized by carbon lock - sometimes you can free the engine up by using the ATF treatment. Search the forum for the exact procedure. My '84 had been sitting intermittently over the past 10 years and was beginning to lose compression and idle roughly. After the ATF treatment, I can feel an increase in power and the engine runs much smoother now. Basically, you'll be pouring automatic transmission fluid down your carburetor and letting it sit for a day or two. I hear it works wonders on 7s seized by carbon lock.

Only way to know for sure is to look. Do you have access to a borescope (or have any doctor friends, lol)? If you marinate the thing liberally with MMO first, it would not hurt (technically it could hurt a ctalytic converter but not if you disconnect the exhaust pipe).

Carbon lock is most likely given that this engine sat for so long.
If you still can't get it running then it's time to look elsewhere...
