'83 Gauge Cluster into '80 Dash?

Will it work? If it makes any difference, the motor is from 83 too, so i guess it would have the oil temp sender on it somewherere.

Basically, i want the 130mph speedo, and i like that cluster better overall... not to mention the speedo in my cluster dosent work anyway.

Its oil pressure, and the sender for it is that big *** thing right under the oil cooler. Guess you would have to wire it up somehow in order for that gauge to work.

They only had like 85 MPH speedos or something in 81-82. They went up to 130 or something in 83. So basically, its pointing at the wrong numbers...I think?

EDIT: I think that this might apply to the SA also. If it has the 85 MPH speedo. Im not sure what they have though.

The '79 LE model also had a 130 mph speedometer. That's what I put in my '80. I originally swapped out the entire cluster because I liked the digital clock, but the damn thing didn't work, so I just swapped out the speedo itself.

well if u have the 80 manual and 83 it will make your life mucch easy, anywhere there is some difference with the 80 cluster and 83, mazda did some changes on the gauge's, I swap out my 80 for the 81 speedo but I still had to cahnge wire position so everything will work like factory, if I did not do it this will happen whenever I turn on my headlight my blincker will work and all other weir stuff, basically u need rewire some of the pins from the white plug to the black plug.

I put an 83 speedo in my 81. Not the entire cluster but just the gauge and gauge face and needle, thereby keeping the correct oil pressure gauge, voltmeter etc. It worked perfectly and moved much smoother.
