82 12a vs. '04 rxs, base

Just curious on your input, would I get roasted in my '82 rx7, basically no mods but a straight thru exhaust, and muffler (loud as hell.) Engine runs strong. His car is an '04 acura rsx, its an auto, but they have sport shift, if that does anything. Just wondering in a straight line who would come out ahead. I will eventually end up racing with him, but I don't know when. He was in my car today, and he said it feels like my car pulls harder than his... thats hillarious if its true! I hope it is....

I have driven a bolt on 6 speed RSX-S. Nevertheless, I was unimpressed. Didnt even break the tires loose punching it in 1st. Top end was allright tho. Youll get em off the line and mabey through 2nd. Hell probably pull a little past in third. I guess.

Lets see here...

RX-7: 100 hp.
RSX auto: 160 hp.

Do the math.

PS: To the guy that claims that the RX will pull the RSX in the first two gears, give your head a shake.

Wrong again. The RX-7 is around 2455 pounds and the RSX tipping the scales at 2767 pounds.

If the guy had a SA like myself, then he'd be looking at a 2350 pound curb weight but the FB's have a bit of a weight problem compared to the svelte SA.

Anyhow guys, let's all get our facts straight here.

well according to mazda the 82 rx-7 is only 2335 lbs not 2455 and curb weight of the rsx is 2694 so i figure since the rsx weighs more and is only 60 hp more it would be slower especially if you take into consideration the hp lost from the flywheel to the wheels i would put my money on the rx-7

"1982 Mazda RX-7 GSL 0-60 - 9.7 seconds" Eurotuned.com

...And I can't find anything through Google for a base RSX's 0-60 times.

the cars are fairly close in power, lightness etc. its going to also involve the drivers and none of us here can tell you who is the better driver, go out and do the race, just please not on some crowded street, some idiots around my high school are always about 2 inches from killing people
