81 SA Questions

I just have a couple of questions and since my knowledge doesn't extend very far past FC's I figured this is the best place to ask. I just found out a good family friend has an 81 SA with 27,000 original km. The car has the original Mazda tires on it. It has never seen rain or a winter. Pretty much the only time he drives it is to get the oil changed. The only water that ever touches the body is when he washes it. This car is mint. It has nothing wrong with it. He takes such good care of it that he still has the original paper mats from mazda that went over the floor mats in the show room.

Now come the real questions. How much is this car worth? He is by no means looking to sell it yet but he's curious how much it would be worth. It doesn't have to be restored, it is in the same quality as it was when it rolled off the showroom floor. Any info you could provide would be great. Thanks

I would think $4500-$5000 would be fair if it's that cherry. BTW, the '81 is an FB, not an SA. -WG

Man you guy's are the only people I know who "nickname" your cars with the VIN number and not the chassis code. There all SA's if you go by the chassis code. If you go to Japan and say "FB", they're probably going to look at you funny.

As far as the car goes, I'd have to agree with the around $5000 quote, but it's really a matter of who wants to buy it. So wouldn't pay that much and some would think it's worth a lot more, so it depends.
