'78-'79 was the only year with points. '80 had separate igniters (not attached to the dizzy). '81+ had igniters attached to the dizzy.

Changed my '79 to an '80 dizzy, used 2 MSD 6AL's, 2 MSD Blaster II coils and a set of RedHot wires with suppressors from Racing Beat (yeah, I know their expensive).

DO NOT USE THE STOCK COILS with the MSD's. The stock coils won't hold up and you won't be happy with all the oil all over your engine compartment when they burn out (Personal experience).

Great results! Very nice, smooth ignition from idle to 7000. No skips, no misses.
Noticeable power increase at all RPM's.

Leading and trailing fire always. Trailing 20 degrees after leading, as I recall.

Use a 7000rpm limiter chip if your engine isn't in real good shape.

Follow MSD's directions. If you can't figure them out CALL THEM. They are very helpful.
