'79 rx-7 ltd ed

I've recently put my beloved rx-7 back on the road. I bought this car in May '79. It is one of 3000 Limited editions built. It has 79k miles and is in very good condition. Does anyone have an idea of what I should insure it for? I've checked the usual "classis car" insurers and they will only quote me on a GS-L. Any advice? Thanks Greg P

Welcome to the forum and the Darkside. Personally, I would find a professional appraiser that's familiar with classic sports cars. You might check with Grundy, Haggerty or any of the other classic insurer's. They can most likely recommend a qualified appraiser. I Goggled 'classic car insurers' and a good number of them came up. Some of the classic insurers will insure for an 'agreed valuation' policy. If you go that route, I would venture a value of 6-10k, depending on condition. For the lower number, it would need to be in exceptional condition, for the higher, it would need to be in near showroom condition, both appearance wise and mechanically with no mods. The mileage is a bit high for the upper figure.

Post pics, it's must for new members, not really but we like to see them anyway.

Since you're new, check my sig line for the online FSMs, carb manual and other rotary related reading. I some how suspect that since you've had the car since new, you probably don't need them but I provide the link for all of the 'newbs' anyway.

Yea, when I finished restoring my MGB I got an appraisal and insured it for the appraised value. Fortunately, my brother-in-law did the appraisal and pretty much allowed me to set the value myself, so I set it high.
