79 RX-7, hood stuck

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen.

I'm new to the 1st gen forum, and mostly new to the whole board.

I just bought a 1979 RX-7. I know nothing about it other than that it has a 12a engine. The reason I know nothing is because the hood was bumped (more to the point, something large and heavy was dropped on it) and it doesn't open.

The car has 79k miles, it's a 5-speed, it runs, and it was $250. Couldn't pass it up. Would you?

Anyway, how can I learn more about this car?
And how can I get the hood open, short of cutting? I will get a new hood eventually, but for now I just want to open it and take a peek.

welcome to the cult err club. have some one give it a love tap near the latch while you pull the handle if its stuck. sometimes i have to do that

well for info look at the 1st gen faq, or felix's site. if youve got any questions they should be answered by searchin the forum, if not dont be afraid to ask.

post pics! dont say you got a new car and not post pics

well if the pics arent too large you can click browse next to where it says attach file and post em one at a time. max size is 102400 bytes

you can also sign up for a rides page at my site if you want :-D WHEELSPECS.COM

funny how there are more rexes than all other cars combined just about, due to me haha

if you dont wanna do that aim me at trebelbmag and i can host em for you if they are too large or you are just plain lazy.

When my hood stopped working, I sprayed a whole bottle of WD-40 on the latch. It opens fine everytime now.

if you pull the hood release and it just seems like theres nothing, then you probably have teh same problem that i had. my cable just got disconected so i had to jack the car alittle and reach behind the engine up to the latch in the hood, and then open it with my had from the bottom side. give taht a try and see where it gets ya
