79 rats nest pcv questions
Hey guys,
I asked this question in another post,but didn't get any answer on it.
I removed my rats nest on my 79,and plumbed in a 1990 Dodge caravan 3.0 litre V6 PCV valve the exact way the thread in the archive explained it,but it seems as though it was creating a major vacuum leak,and not allowing the car to start.It seems to me that in hindsight the install is meant to create a constant vacuum leak.Is this the case,or am I missing something.I pulled the hose that ran from the intake manifold thru the PVC valve,and to the oil filler neck,and plugged the fitting at the manifold,and the car started no problem.It seems as though maybe the PCV wants to be plumbed in opposite to the way the thread mentions,but even still I can pull a small amout of air through it even in the direction it is supposed to stop air flow.Is this right?I want to do this mod so I don't get the lung mustard,but I also want the car to run.Any help on this matter would be appreciated.Thanks in advance.

i got a 79 with no rats nest. ihave a rb intake and holley carb, and hooked up a pcv valve no problem. The way i did it was i hooked the oil fill tbue vent in to my breather and the engine vent to a pcv valve. the line off the pcv "t" into the brake booster on my intake. thats just how i did it and no vaccum leak or condensation. good luck hope this helps some
