79 oil cooler hydraulic hose replacement

I think our longer oil cooler hose is starting to weep and leak oil. Checked at Mazda stealership and told was no longer available. MazdaTrix is around $110 for both hoses. Victoria British does not list the hose.

Guy at auto parts store suggested a local hydraulic hose company, just take in old hose and have them make a replacement. My question is has anyone done this and at what cost? I would hope they would be cheaper but still good quality.

Or I am open for any other suggestions.

Thanks

I had it done. They just cut the ends off the old hose and attach them to a new hose. I think they were $25-30 each and very good quality. That's the route I would take.

79 oil coolant hose

so you say that they reused the fittings on both ends of the hose, just replaced the hose. I would be good with that, I don't think that the fittings themselves are leaking jsut the 27 year old hose.

Thanks

Make sure it's the hose and not the fitting on the oil cooler. The oil cooler on my '79 developed a crack around one of the fittings a couple of years ago. I found a guy that was good with aluminum welding and he fixed it up for me. Still running the original lines.

oil cooler hose

The oil cooler is dry and leak free, the leak is back near where the hose goes into the engine block.

Thanks

I have pirtec hoses and new(shiny)fittings, the two were $35 for hose and like $12 each fitting, but no more weeping hoses. is the hose all oily from end to end or just one end cos mine hade the same ammount of oil all over.
