79/80 Rear Disc brakes - explain please...

OK...I bought an 79/80 RX7 to be used as an ITa/IT7 car. The car was 85% completed by the previous owner who has passed away. The car is outfitted with Disc brakes in the rear. Are these stock? It appears that the rear end has been refurbished. It is limited slip. How can I determine what is installed on the car?

The problem was that the left rear caliper was locked up, and there was no brake fluid to either rear cailper. I disasembled the caliper and put it back together. Everything appeared to be OK. I found a clogged brake line which was causing no fluid to be presented to the rear calipers. I put everything back together, blead the brakes, and the left rear is locked up again. At this point, I am thinking that the caliper may need to be replaced, but I am not sure what to replace it with, since I do not know what is installed in the car. I guess I wish I knew what COULD be possibly installed in the car. What will fit? From what cars/models/years?

Please help.

I think it depends on your bolt pattern. 110x4 would be a gsl and is PROBABLY what you have. In this case any caliper from 81 to 85 gsl should work. If your pattern is 114.3x4 then you have to get the gslse caliper. BTW It is definitely not stock. I am about to swap into a 79 myself. 79 and 80 never had disc as an option.

I highly doubt they crossed bolt patterns on you.

Thanks for the input. The bolt pattern has been measured at 4x110. I guess that answers my question. Anything else I should know?

Nope, getting it in there is the hard part! That's what I'm working on now. Hehe. Just enjoy the fact that someone else did the hard work!
