Question 79-80 Intake Question???

I always try and do as much research as I can before asking questions. And I would like an answer to this one.

From what I have read the 79-80 intakes are different ( and preferred) from the 81-85. and as far as I know Mine (which is an '80) does not have an egr valve.
what I have also read Is some weld up egr openings when or instead of using block off plates on the acv while removing the rats nest too keep tempurature down. Now here is the question.

Since my intake dont have an egr ('80)and if I remove the rats nest and air pump and use a block off plate on the ACV( without having passages welded) will it be ok tempurature wise or will my intake get too hot as I have heard from some??

Sorry if I ask stupid questions!!

Both intakes have the ACV and the EGR. The 81-85 has a coasting valve in the rear primary runner. Plus a 5th EGR port running into the block. Your intake temp will only change if you block the coolant ports from the block, or you are running a header without a heat shield between them. You will need to block the rear of the intake also.

79-80 intake

81-85 intake with the coasting valve removed.

So I can just use a block off plate and call it good? the temp will change how with the coolant port blocked? I just dont want to use a block off plate and my intake overheat!!!

If you block the coolant passage through the intake, and have a heat shield between it and the header, it will make the intake run cooler. Should raise the ponies a bit. The only problem is, on a daily driver, its going to take a little longer for the car to warm up. With the cooler intake air, being more dense, it will loose a little fuel mileage also.
