5th and 6th port

I recently discovered my 5th and 6th ports are not opening after I install my RB streetport exhaust.(yes, it has the 6th port actuation provision) I am not sure why the ports are not opening. The levers rotate and the shafts move freely in and out of both actuators. I don't have any guages to measure what kind of pressure I am getting from the exhaust. I will also check if the metal tube going to the actuators are plugged. In the mean time, I searched the board for solution and found that some of you just removed the actautors and wired the 5th and 6th ports open all the time. I tried that tonight and WOW! what a difference it was. I am finally getting max. HP that I am entitled to. I did not find any noticable low end torque losses with both ports wired open. Question to anyone is: Will there will any ill-effects from having both ports open all the time? Thanks in advance.

Jeff

I removed the sleeve in mine and left one sleeve in... so basically I only have one actuator in right now... plugged the other hole and I think its fine.... but I think you can remove both sleeves and just let the air go right in....

Mrgsl-se:
May I ask why you only remove one sleeve? Is there any difference in performance between removing the sleeve and just wiring the sleeve open?

is it ok to just leave the sleeves out if you are rebuilding the motor? does wiring them open dramatically decrease mpg?

Well, I left one sleeve in, because..... I didn't want both of my actuators open.... Low End Torque type of deal.... besides my right actuator shaft wouldn't wanna budge or even twist.... it was hard to remove too.... (mazda designed them to be close at start... so why mess with the MAZDA engineers design).... I had no choice but to remove my sleeve or lose top end hp.... It's not easy to remove(the shaft).... I still don't know how to do it....
I haven't seen much difference in gas mileage with one open or maybe both open
good luck with the race....
