320hp in a 1st gen?
Thats what my friend is claiming. A shop in New Jersey dropped a fully rebuilt 320hp Turbo II motor in his 84 GS. Damn quick... and they claim that all they did to the motor is a new brain. They gave him a rear and driveshaft, but no tranny or clutch. He's already went through 3 1st gen trannys but his clutch has survived so far. Does anyone have any recommendations for a tranny?

He said that the shop was willing to dyno the car and everything. This wasnt like a situation where he went in and asked for 320hp... he went into the shop with a full motor rebuilt kit for his 12A and asked them how much. They told him for the money it would cost to rebuild it he will only get around 180hp. They said that for like 1g more he can get the TII motor. When he heard the HP he couldnt resist. They said that they put a new computer in that tells the motor to work harder. The turbo stays at 14psi I believe and they didnt recommend going over that. They also said some stuff to where he can hook up a laptop to the brain if the car isnt running right and the computer will tell him whats wrong and how much to give of something he needs. Another thing was that they said with the laptop he can turn the car off from anywhere... he can put it to where the car gets no fuel. Once again THIS IS WHAT HE'S TOLD ME. In about 2 weekends Im going to the shop myself to see if its true. I wanna see how much it will cost me for the same motor and a few other stuff and my brother wants to get a new exhaust system and a bigger turbo for his car (88 Turbo II 10th Aniversary). The shop is located in New Jersey (Im in Long Island, NY) and I think its called NVA Motorsports. Im not EXACTLY sure but I think thats what he said the name was.

Yeah man but it's got NAWWSSSS!!!
I hope that isn't a direct quote. If someone hoping to score my business used those words - I'd definitely be considering slapping them before taking my business elsewhere.

Sounds like MVA motorsports did the work. They are a good reputable shop as far as i know..
They are doing a lot of custom 20B parts for the FD and FC swaps..
While i believe this swap was done, i don't think your friend knows much about cars and is mixing up some of the info..
A S5 TII motor with the stock turbo will not make more then ~250RWHP MAX... I REALLY doubt 320RWHP.. But if you drop that down to ~280RWHP it is close.. Maybe they did an upgraded turbo?
And for a tranny, get an S4 tranny.. it is the easiest to do.. And use the TII driveshaft and just have your yoke from the 1st gen driveshaft put on it..
Oh, you will also need to shorted the shifter assembly.. I would recommend your friend take it back to MVA, I doubt he could do this work.
