2nd Gen seats in a 1st gen

Has anyone ever swapped the seats from a second gen into a first gen? I was thinking of swapping seats from a base model '87 RX-7 to my '83 RX-7 S. Is is extremely difficult? Thanks for any replies.

I'm learning as I go along here, first gens are new to me as you can see.

They drop right in....

I put a set of regular 2nd Gen Vert seats in my GSL-SE.... everything lined right up... no problem.

I am not positive but...

I beleive you need to use the First Gen's seat rails
to make them fit.

They unbolt from the bottom of the seats.

How much you getting the 2nd gen seats for? My interior could use a make over with carpeting, various panels, and maybe some nice new seats. My seats look perfect, but are kind of crunchy after 17 years of sun. Surprised there are no rips. My passenger side seat though, seems to have lost a weld near the rear bolt so it rattles on the rollbar sometimes. I'll have to take a look at how they mount to the rails since I didn't know about that. Hopefully, a bolt is just loose then.

I have an '87 parts car so I have a pair of seats just sitting in there. My carpet (in the first gen) looks like someone crapped on it and then smelled the crap and puked.

ROTFLMAO

That restore magazine (vicotrybritish or something) has complete carpet sets for like $250. I plan on getting a set but they only come in Blue, Red, Black, and Tan I believe they listed. Anywho, my interior is almost for certainly grey(ish). I think it could be considered blue, but it is more likely a grey.

I febreezed the crap out of the inside but it still kinda resembles the smell of a car which has seen a lot of mechanical work and I hate that. If I swap out the seats, carpet, storage bins, hatchback carpeting/pad underneath, is there anything else to retain the odor?
Ugh, the headliner. =/

I have the crap brown interiour on my gold 83. Anyone know if the 2nd gen had any crap brown seat colors. Otherwise I have to smear dung on the seats so the color matches the way they smell already.

Ebay always has interior carpeting for 179 or something, try there. They might have your color.
