Will a 2nd gen n/a tranny work with my 215mm centerforce clutch and 215mm RB aluminum flywheel? Splines compatible?
Can I put a 1st gen bellhousing on 2nd gen n/a tranny or is it more complicated than that?
This is for my repu. Ideally I would like length, width, bellhousings, all dimensions the same as a 79-80 5 speed; I used to have a 79-80 5 speed in the repu and it fit good. Pipe dream or what is reality?
Thanks,
Brad

N/A trannies are one piece,no removable bellhousings.
The input splines are the same for all N/A boxes, regardless of clutch diameter.
The only prob I see is the flywheel. The FC tranny will require an FC starter, which may not mesh with the 1st gen flywheel/ring gear.

Steve, I've gotten an NA FC starter to fit in my REPU tranny and even mesh with the REPU flywheel. All I had to do was dremel and file away some of the casting flash inside the hole. It's easier if the engine is not attatched to the tranny.
As for the FC tranny requiring an FC starter, I haven't tried to use an early starter on an FC tranny yet, but I do have access to a bad FC tranny that I was going to gut for its bellhousing to use as part of an engine test-fire rig. I guess I'll find out as soon as I can be arsed to tear it apart (get my hands dirty).
