2nd Gen Coil Hooked Up wrong?
After reading through some of the timing posts I used my old timing light to check my settings and realized no matter how much I moved the pot on the distributor my trailing timing was off and would not allow me to adjust it (light attached to T1 far from L1 to avoid any possible interference). There are a few other posts with the same issue I have read.
I read that the trailing coil (stock) was closest to the radiator, but that was the wiring I used to wire the 2nd gen coil I have been running for 1 year now.
So it appears that the stock leading coil is feeding my trailing plugs (which I think would explain why my trailing timing does not change when I adjust the pot on the distributor) and my wiring for my stock trailing coil is feeding into the 2nd gen coil pack feeding my leading plugs.
Does anyone know if I can just switch the plugs going into the ignitors to fix the issue? or do I have to re-wire?
Please let me know. Thanks.

The ignitor on the front of the dizzy (closest to radiator) is the leading. Verify that the leading ignitor is feeding the leading coilpack, etc. Also, disconnect the vacuum advance and plug the hole where it mounts at the carb before checking timing.

I didnt want to strip the loom and tape off of the wires coming from the ignitors so I just hooked my light up to the leading plug wire and moved the dashpot on the distributor and low and behold the dashpot adjusted the timing while the light was hooked up to the leading plug wire #1. So I assumed I had leading and trailing switched.
I swapped the plugs going to the j109s which apparently took care of the mistaken reversal and was able to set leading and trailing exact using the correct plug wires.
Just came back from an hours drive on a country road and holy mazda!!! the car accelerated smoother felt more powerful and idled better bet I get better milage too!!!! Even at just stock timing (going to mark for 24L 16T).
I thought I followed the instructions on hooking up the 2nd gen coil a year ago when I was a newB newB, but I must have missed the part about making sure that you used the feed wires from the old leading coil. I know I read that it was better to switch the trailing wires to the leading on the dizzy afterwards but I thought that meant it really didnt matter whether you used the feed wires from the leading or trailing coil for the 2nd gen coil (real smart).
None the less I hope I did not mess up anything. I noticed Rogue Wolf had his leading and trailing switched on an old post so I dont feel soo bad... as he is a senior member (who has helped me many times). The weird thing is... it ran... (not as well as it does now) but it ran....

lol, that happened to me at one point too. Tried like hell to get the thing timed right, then found out that somehow things had gotten switched around on me. Glad you got it sorted out.

Now that my coils are fixed I got a metric ruler and starting 0mm from the yellow mark on the pulley clockwise I marked 16mm and 24mm. My vac advance is disconnected. I had a helper bring the car up to 4k rpms and I adjusted leading to the 24mm mark and trailing to the 16mm mark.
I think I may have done something wrong because at idle now leading is sitting on the yellow mark (stock) and trailing is half way between the red and yellow????? Any ideas on what I did wrong or could this be correct?
I rechecked the measurements and they are still 16mm from yellow and 24mm from yellow..... Darn..... I would assume both leading and trailing would be advanced from stock now but only trailing seems to be.
